CULTURAL TRANSITION
Repositioning Art and
Culture at the Heart of our Society
OUR THESIS
The arts have always been crucial for freedom, creativity, and communication, helping us understand the world. They reflect our emotions, connect us across cultures and enable us to leave a legacy. Engaging in artistic activities —whether dancing, painting, writing, or other artistic forms— fosters self-expression, civic engagement and community building.
In Canada, while broadcasting, interactive media, and music have rebounded well post-pandemic, traditional arts like cultural heritage and performing arts are recovering more slowly (Government of Canada, 2021). The challenge now is for the arts sector to evolve and resonate with today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world and changing demographics.

How can the performing arts harness
21st-century skills to strengthen their impact on societal resilience and sustainability
We live in a constantly evolving world, full of complex challenges. To thrive in the 21st century, key skills like creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy are essential to envision innovative approaches and critically assess multifaceted situations.
This sets the stage for transformative solutions. By leveraging technology, creativity, and collaboration, the performing arts become a powerful catalyst for reflection and dialogue, paving the way for a resilient and sustainable society. Through the compelling allure of performance and storytelling, the arts forge connections, broaden perspectives, and inspire innovative ideas to gracefully navigate the complexities of our contemporary world.
